Industry in Scotland

In honour of our visitor Dr Paweł Wolski, from the Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry Polish Academy of Sciences, we took a group outing to Glenkinchie Distillery, the nearest one to Edinburgh. After all, one of the aims of Paweł's trip was to get acquainted with the Scottish chemical industry.

Despite the heavy rain at the start of the day, we managed to keep dry (on the outside at least). There was some excitement on the way there, when White Van Man decided to ram the distillery shuttle bus, but everyone emerged unscathed. What we needed then was a stiff drink, which we got.

Our enthusiastic guide, Fraser, did an excellent job of showing us the distillery. After an exhausting morning, it was time for a few drinks in the beautiful bar, with nice views over the grounds and the Kinchie Burn, which feeds the distillery.

After all of that, what better way to recover than lunch in the dreaded Spoons back in Edinburgh...
